Safe tanning
Safe tanning is vital if it is your plan to get a tan. There have been
too many people who have ignored safety tips and then paid for it dearly
either immediately after or a bit later down the road. If you feel you
must tan, remember these safety tips:
• Do not sleep – Laying out on the beach on a warm summer’s
day can definitely make you comfortable and drowsy. It is vitally important
you do not sleep. Regardless of whether you are on the beach or in a
tanning bed, if you fall asleep, chances are that you are going to wake
up with an awful burn that could impact you for a long, long time and
even lead to skin cancer.
• Know when to say when – It is not wise to lay out under
the hot sun without protection for more than just a few minutes at a
time. By doing the best you can to cover up between tanning sessions,
it will give your skin a little time to recuperate. If you do not do
this, it can potentially be very harmful for you and your skin.
Some health officials would say that there is no such thing as safe
tanning. They argue that no person should purposely expose their skin
to UV rays for extended periods of time. Whether they are right or not
is up to you to decide, but if you feel you must tan, remember to do
it in moderation and wisdom.
